Product Review: Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner!

I ordered the Parian Spirit Brush Cleaner from Beautylish two days ago, and it already came! Brushes are all clean and soft now; I love this stuff! And look at the cute note it came with!

This is my new favorite brush cleaner. I already had the little canister from IMATS last year, but just used it with different cleaners. I'm not saying they didn't clean my brushes, but this one works so well! The canister is just basically a jar with a little net-like piece in it to gently scrub/rub your brushes on while in the solution. The brush cleaner has a citrus scent, which is nice, and leaves the brushes clean, disinfected, and super soft. The other thing I love about it is you put your brush in, clean it, wipe it on a towel, and it's dry within just a few seconds- no joke. I don't know how that works, but it does. Anyone looking for a brush cleaner, go for this one! And the ingredients are non-toxic too, so no dry cleaning fluids or whatever nasty stuff goes into most cleaners out there.

I don't usually do reviews on products, but maybe I'll start.... Any requests?

RAW Awards

Have you been paying attention? I was honored to be in the Sacramento RAW Showcase back in April, doing make-up for a runway. If you don't know, RAW is an organization that has monthly showcases for local artist in nine categories: film, fashion design, music, hair, make-up, visual art, photography, accessories, and performing art. Well, every year, RAW holds an awards ceremony called RAWards, and all participants from the year are eligible. That means, I'm in. So, you're probably wondering what that actually means.. Let me tell you. First off, it starts with voting- THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP! Voting starts TODAY! October 1st, and goes for two weeks. Voting is 50% national online voting, and 50% by the RAW City Reps, curators, and art experts for each city. 3-5 artists are chosen per city, per category.. Sacramento, being a new city in the RAW organization will only have 3 per category. The city nominees are then announced and showcase in the Semi-Finals in November. The finalists go on to the national level, and the winner gets a big prize! For make-up, the winner gets a prize pack with a consultation with Nolan (winner of Blush/celebrity make-up artist) and Maxi (celebrity make-up artist), make-up from Nolan Robert Cosmetics, portfolio and printed cards, write-ups, a paid music video shoot with Maxi, and a bunch more stuff. It all sounds pretty exciting. =)

TO VOTE!
All you need is an email address! You have to register, but then you can vote for one artist per category per day!
Here's my link::

I have a couple more long overdue updates coming soon. Talk to you soon! Thank you in advance for you supporting votes for me! =D

Self-harm/Suicide Photoshoot!

That's me, giving Christeen cutting scars!
Hello world! I did an awesome photo shoot recently, so I thought I'd blog about it! The photographer, Jennelle Gee (Geejers) came up with a concept of pretty much suicide/self-harm and from the minute I heard about it, I was excited. I LOVE when I get to do special effects make-up! So I jumped on the opportunity. The shoot ended up with only two models, but we had so much fun with it! One model, Christeen, got to get a little bloody with a slit wrist and scarring, as if she had been a cutter. She also played the part of the suicidal hanging girl, so I bruised her neck as if the rope had left a nasty mark. The other model, Darian, was a drug (heroin) addict, so I got to give her all sorts of little bruises, as if she'd been shooting up a bit too much. I also made her cry. All this was shot in a broken down, abandoned house, somewhere in the middle of Auburn, California. The walls were all busted; the floor was breaking in (Jennelle almost felt through at one point!); the walls were covered in graffiti; there was even an old bathtub filled with nastiness and a busted mattress on the ground. Overall, I must say it was one of the most fun shoots I've ever gotten to do. I can't wait to do more work like this!

If blood and gore doesn't make you pass out, go check out the final shots in the make-up fx section!/make-up-fx.html

RAW Artist Interview!

5/25/2012

Back in April, I did make-up for a showcase called RAW. RAW: Natural Born Artists is an awesome organization that showcases all sorts of arts, including fashion, hair, make-up, visual art, performing art, video, music, and photography. Each month, RAW holds local showcases and gives the opportunity for artists to show off their talents, meet and connect with other artists, and, of course, share the art. We, the artists, also get short video interviews.... So here's mine! Hope you like it! =)
